Stag Do Ideas in Glasgow - A guide to Glasgow’s night life

Need some help with your stag do ideas in Glasgow? This blog will at least sort out the nightlife aspect. Social drinking and a ‘pint at the pub’ is engrained into Glasgow’s very streets and runs through the veins of all that live there. So they sure know how to create the perfect drinking atmosphere no matter what your taste. ‘Eclectic’ would be the perfect way to describe the sheer mixture of watering holes on offer in Glasgow city. From traditional wood panelled Glaswegian ale houses, to trendy cocktail bars. All these establishments and venues mean a lot of competition, which keeps the prices low!

The heart of the city boasts, as you would expect, the majority of Glasgow’s bars and clubs. Home to commercial bars such as Revolution, The Living Room and O’Neill’s. Sauchiehall Street is the main strip, for a sure night out with little planning ahead here. You can just weave in and out each venue, and end your night in one of Centrals fantastic clubs. The Arches fills the cavernous space underneath Glasgow Central station - a hub for all things culture and artistic, it hosts some of the city’s best club nights. For those who love classic rock and pop, head to The Classic Grand or The Barrowlands

If you’re looking for something a little more upmarket, then start your night on the fashionable Bath Street. Oozing style and sophistication, you can experience the likes of Kushion – a unique and intimate club night come house party, you won’t have been anywhere like it. The Corinthian for the style conscious stag is an absolute must. A hang out with the rich and famous (and the occasional wannabe – although we’re all like that right?) Here, they employ mixologists rather than bar staff, and are big on their theme nights. You’ll be feeling pretty swish when dancing the night away to the latest tunes!

A few streets down, you’ll find Glasgow’s Exchange Square. Zizzi’s, All Bar One and Di Maggio’s are all great little places to eat before sampling the drinks! Trendy with a laid back feel, the bars here are friendly and great social hang outs. Set under amazing architecture, all lit up at night be sure to venture into Shimmy – a small place, but you’ll be loving its private nooks and quirky character.

Out towards the Universities (well worth a visit in the daytime too!) Ashton lane provides the cities students with their nightlife kick. Although worth checking if the nights are students only, there are some great bars offering indie, rock and pop anthems to take you back to the old days. Here is also where you’ll find Glasgow’s best live music venues including ABC, The Carling Academy and King Tut’s Wah Wah Hut. However, over recent years the west end has become more of a middle class sanctuary, so you won’t be pushed searching for real ales or cocktails.

Finally, there’s Merchant City. Consider the ‘cool’ place to be, offering everything from traditional pubs to cheesy pop nightclubs. Here, home of Glasgow’s gay district, you can expect to find vibrant bars filled with vibrant clientele alike!

This is just a snapshot of the nightlife on offer. I’m sure this has firmly placed nightlife on your list of stag do ideas in Glasgow.
