Why is Cardiff Stag Do So Good?

Early this year, I went to a Stag do in Cardiff of an old friend who I used to knock about with a few years ago.  I had never been to Cardiff prior to this so I wasn’t really sure what to expect, but I had heard from people that Cardiff is a really good night out.  So off I went and wow, I was pleasantly surprised how good it was.  Here is why:

I live in Nottingham and the groom to be lives in Stoke, so I drove to Stoke and met him and a few others and we went down together.  From Stoke (Junction 15, M6), it took just 2 ½ hours to get to Cardiff which isn’t bad at all.  There are 2 main routes into Cardiff; via the m5 and the m4 (through the tunnel) or via the m5 then the m50.  If you’re coming from the south, it’s even easier, as it’s just the m4 and you’re there!  Despite its physical location on the map (looks a mission!) it didn’t take long at all and coming from the Midlands took just 2 ½ hours.

The trek from the hotel to the bars

One of the most important factors here – are the hotels staggering distance to the bars?  Yes.  Cardiff is very different from other cities whereby hotels are generally scattered across town, however, this is not the case with Cardiff.  All the hotels are grouped nearby to each other and very close to the train station.  Then literally with a walk which takes less than 5 minutes, you are at the bar ready to get the round in.

Choice of areas to go out in at night

Usually, you expect to go to different areas for different types of bars.  E.g. in Manchester some go to the Printworks for a night out, whilst others avoid it like the plague and go to Deansgate Locks – both of these areas are some distance away from each other.  In Cardiff however, the split between 2 areas is 2 streets, which connect to each other.  That’s no exaggeration either.  You go either down Mill Lane for independent bars or down St Mary Street for the likes of Walkabout, Flares etc...  Simple as that and you don’t need a taxi to get from one to the other.  Even better than that, the hotel we stayed in was actually at the joint of the 2 streets, so we literally stepped out and then it was a case of left or right and on we go.

Places to eat

If eating isn’t cheating in your books and you like a good bit of grub, you will be spoilt for choice in the Cardiff city centre.  They have everything from a Wagamama’s, Nandos, Carluccio's and Jamie Oliver’s to a Pizza Hut, Frankie & Bennies.  You could save the hassle though of finding a place to eat and just get booked into a restaurant (choice of 6 to choose from), already paid for through the After Dark package for a Cardiff Stag do!

When deciding on a destination for your stag do, the usual questions always pop up.  “Is it easy to get to or will it take a day travelling!?”, “how far are the hotels from the bars?”, “will we need taxi’s?”, “are there good areas to go out drinking?”  Cardiff comfortably answers all of those questions with answers which you want to hear!  Yes, it is easy to get to, yes the hotels are very close to the bars and yes, there are some fantastic areas to go out in!

If you are thinking about going on a Cardiff Stag Do, I am 99.9999% sure you will have a good time!  You can find out more by speaking to our Party Experts on 0115 941 5282 and they will give you even more reasons as to why Cardiff is great for a Stag do.

Oh, and before I go, look at my friend Joe from his Stag do in Cardiff!  (We only let him dress like this in the hotel bar and then we got him changed so we could go out!!)
